CBCT

CBCT o Tomografia Computerizzata a Fascio Conico

La tomografia computerizzata cone beam (in lingua inglese cone beam computed tomography, CBCT) o tomografia computerizzata a fascio conico è una tecnica di imaging biomedico in cui una tomografia computerizzata viene realizzata mediante dei fasci di raggi X a forma di cono.

La CT cone beam è diventata sempre più importante nella pianificazione del trattamento e nella diagnosi dell’implantologia e in particolare è indispensabile nelle tecniche di implantologia computer assistita. Questa tecnologia viene sempre più impiegata anche in altri campi dell’odontoiatria, come ad esempio l’endodonzia e l’ortodonzia.
Durante una scansione cone beam, lo scanner ruota attorno alla testa del paziente, ottenendo fino a quasi 600 immagini distinte. Il software raccoglie i dati e ricostruisce le immagini, producendo un volume digitale composto da voxel di dimensione isotropica dei dati anatomici acquisiti, che possono poi essere “ricostruiti” con software appropriati.
